What a lovely location, a gorgeous hotel and the swimming pool was great with the added bonus of an outside hot tub overlooking the sea. My room was 631 with a large king bed, desks, adequate bathroom with bath and shower, seats with table, desk and TV and all the usual facilities in a hotel room. No sockets by the bed though which is something all hotels need to have now but that was the only criticism of the room. Staff where lovely, helpful and friendly although I give 4 stars as check-in didnt happen for 10 minutes due to no staff being at the reception, no idea why but it got sorted OK. The hotel is clean, the room was clean, well presented and very welcoming. I had breakfast which was the normal cooked breakfast buffet, toasts, pancakes, breads, cereals, tea or coffee, juices with plenty of seating options and a view of the sea. The staff were great, the food was good and the atmosphere relaxed. The view gives you a great start to the day. I used the pool which was great. Some families there with kids, a swimming lane, working steam room, sauna and heated jacuzzi. The outside hottub is amazing. It is a must do at this hotel. It was raiing on my stay so the outside tennis court and kids play area werent being used but its worth a mention that they have these. Location feels remote but its only 5-10 minutes from Salthill and Galway by car. There is a petrol station beside the hotel on the main road and a small village. I guess you access the hotel by car, taxi or bus.

It was the worst 3 days I have ever spent in a hotel. First day was fine, couldn't have evening meal as the food didn't appeal to me, I like proper dinners with mashed potatoes. Second day was woke at 8am by work being done, weather was bad so we stayed in, 🔨 hammering went on all day long, same the next day but we ventured out . Same the next day, then the heating went off, and no hot water to wash either. I did tell them at the desk....they just said sorry.

Disappointed with our evening meal experience. We booked a package which included room breakfast and dinner. Room was very clean and comfortable (a small fridge would have been good) and breakfast was varied and good quality. At dinner we waited to be seated and after several minutes one of the servers came to see us. We were seated and then left to our own devices. No one offered us a menu and after 10 minutes of waiting, I called a server over to ask for menus. We were handed menus and after another 10 minutes the waiter returned to take our order. When I told him we had vouchers for dinner, he took the menus back off us and said we had to choose from a special menu. The special menus were produced and after another 10 minutes a waitress came to take our order. When she saw our menus she took them back off us and asked us to choose from the standard menu, which she had to go and get. The whole experience was very disappointing. I selected the chicken curry which had an overpowering taste of curry powder, it was not pleasant. Our lunchtime meals (from the same menu) were good.

Been a few times for spa days with my family . Absolutely gorgeous hotel with under ground car park . The spa is just off the lobby area. Lovely relaxing environment with really clean facilities. Sauna and steam room are lovely. Lovely comfy robes and slippers. Treatments are fantastic. The staff are amazing. The relaxation room is divine , I didn’t want to leave !!
The Western Hotel

I really wanted to rate this hotel a little higher, perhaps 3.5 stars. The PROS: 1. Great location, not far from the bus and train stations and an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and pubs. 2. The hotel itself has a nice pub; a great place to stop in for a drink or snack, with an Irish band certain days of the week. A shout out to Zed and Tina at the bar. 3. Our room was spacious and clean. CONS: 1. The hotel is a little worn around the edges, and the beds and pillows were not all that comfortable for us. I heard that renovations are in the works to expand the reception area and hopefully the rooms will be renovated as well. 2. Housekeeping was inconsistent. One day we did not get new coffee packets and cream; another day the dirty glasses and coffee cups were not taken away and replaced by new ones. We realize that these things happen, but when we took our dirty dishes to reception there was no apology or offer to fix the problem and in fact we were given a lame excuse along the lines of ‘maybe housekeeping thought we wanted to keep the used cups” (with dried coffe in them?) and we were told to carry our dirty cups and glasses to the bar and get new ones from them ourselves. In fact, the hotel seemed to be staffed mainly with young inexperienced people who definitely could use more training in the area of customer service. We had some other issues with service and for this reason the rating cannot be a 4. I’m not sure I would stay again, unless changes are made.

Super service, lovely friendly staff. Brilliant range of food from the hot and cold breakfast available. Everything is really clean. I really liked their sustainable efforts are shining through and there was a very quick fire alarm text to check the fire doors etc. while we were there, which is a good sign their standards are kept high. Short walk to the town. I’ll stay again.

We chose this hotel for its location halfway between relatives and Galway city. It is a fine hotel; clean and safe, but that is about it. The restaurant was good.

LI feel bad writing this but after Sending 2 emails 2 weeks apart with photos and not so much as a reply let alone call, I feel in this day and age paying €320 for a family room and getting this room! It was awful to say after many happy events here including out wedding that it’s gone down hill. People don’t have money to be going away for a night to get a dirty room with is it mould? I haven’t got a reply so I can’t confirm if it’s dirt or mould, even our 6 yr old asked was there a hole in there ceiling, it’s not about bad mouthing the hotel as the food and pool was lovely but paying big money and they only have a few family rooms so don’t accept room 341.
Clayton Hotel Galway

Spent a few nights here with friends recently. Check in was smooth with a very friendly Aoife . Room was a good size , very comfortable beds and a spotless bathroom with bath and rain shower . The bar food was tasty and reasonably priced , the service was fast and efficient and we did not feel in any way rushed . The staff were friendly and smiling . Plenty of choice for breakfast . We will be back !
The Dean Galway

We had a nice 1-night stay at The Dean in Galway! As others have mentioned, the rooms are on the smaller side and the king pretty much takes up the whole room. We had a small desk and nice sized bathroom. We were on the ground floor, which I requested. I would note that parking is a bit more than a ”throws stone away” and involves rolling suitcases up a rather large hill. I would recommend dropping off/picking up at the front door and then parking your vehicle. All in all, I love the vibe, and we would return.
