"We have been happy with the location, only that our room was downstairs and located right across from the toilets for the pub. It was very noisy. And you couldn't open the window, cause the window is towards the courtyard and there was a table right in front of the window and people who visit the pub can sit at tables in the courtyard. We would stay again but with a room upstairs 😉"

"Got to tell you, i loved thos place. Had googled hotels on A9, saw The Bankfoot Inn and figured even i could find it. Well not only i find it, but i ll look for it again. The place had a nice feel to it as soon as myself and wife walked in. Friendly staff showed us to our room, room 2. Good sized room, spacious bathroom, bottled water and tea/coffee facilities with biscuits. We dined too, a substantial menu with plenty of tempting treats. Add a few pints of draught cider and a few Hendricks Gins and we had cracked it. Happy to recommend...top marks"

The Smiddy Haugh

"I had the most comfortable evening in Smiddy Haugh. The bed was cosy, the food (both evening meal and breakfast) delicious, and the hosts so accommodating- offering information about the local area (I’d recommend visiting the Japanese garden at Cowden)."

" Ratings for all except service based on website. rating on SERVICE based on experience for reasons entirely out of my control, I had to cancel my stay 24hrs beforehand. I called to let them know. I advised I had to cancel and the reply was (word for word) " ok , that's still chargeable". NO ' I'm sorry to hear that' NO "maybe we can find another date so you don't lose your money"... no ' we can't refund you but do you want a credit on account'. if I'd have phoned 12 hours earlier my money would have been refunded or I could have amended my booking. the blame was put on TRIP as I was told ' you booked through them and they wont help you. So I'll be avoiding this place when I go up for my trip, and I'd advise others to avoid places with staff as uninterested as here."

"The service of this hotel is very good. The owner even wrote a letter to the guests staying in the hotel. The hotel looks like a castle. According to the hotel staff, the hotel facilities are very historical. The breakfast is very rich, and you can eat a full Scottish breakfast. The hotel parking is very convenient, just at the door. There are plenty of parking spaces, suitable for self-driving. There are no other facilities around the hotel, which is very suitable for accommodation on the way from Edinburgh to the Scottish Highlands."
