"I really wish I could write something positive about this place, but unfortunately my experience was quite a let down. The staff was really nice and friendly, and the beds were comfy. However the "facilities" were a bit amiss: some beds do not have electric sockets. I appreciate that they welcome everyone, but I had two seemingly homeless people in my room, with one seemingly doing some ***** in the bathroom with a quite strong body odor. I don't want to sound judgemental, and people need a place to sleep especially in the cold days, but for someone traveling to Koln alone, exhausted from a long flight, sleeping in a room with two homeless people can be a bit uncomfortable. I wish I didn't have to write this negative review, because I have stayed in other A&O hostels, and all of them including this one had nice staff and plenty of open areas to relax or meet other travelers."

"I stayed at NH Collection Köln Mediapark for two nights. Reception and the general hotel operation were good, but the room and housekeeping were unacceptable. The bathroom radiator/heater did not work. There were used water bottles and trash left in the room, and they were not removed. Slippers were not placed in the room at all; they only provided them after I specifically asked. The towels were old and worn out. Room cleaning was also not done properly during my stay. In two days, the room was not cleaned. Only the bed was arranged, but the bins were not emptied and the trash was not taken out. The overall quality was below average, and the hotel does not deserve its rating."

Not happy with catching a flight in the morning, when checking out the front desk said we had a room that was not paid for, and the communication took a long time. "Reasonable location in Koln city centre. Self check-in was simple enough. I was unable to accept a top bunk in a 4 person dorm room, the staff were accommodating in giving me a lower bunk. Once on the 1st floor there was a very strong smell of body odour, this unfortunately carried on through to the room itself, the window was slightly open but still the smell was strong. The beds themselves are reasonably comfortable, the only downside is you have to make your own bed, the fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillow case were just left on the bed. There are 2 usb points beside your bed along with a light, there's also a toilet and a separate shower in the room. The bar and seating is good, they have live music on a Friday and a beer is 4€. I have stayed in a number of hostels around Europe and this was definitely the smelliest and least inviting."
