After a crowded Kyoto, I love the peaceful and tranquil environment of this beautiful onsen hotel-ryokan and charming castle town. Everything about the hotel speaks of relaxation and well-being. It's only a 7-8min walk away from Hikone Train Station but there is a hotel shuttle that leaves at 9, 10 and 11 am if you need a drop off. Pick up could probably be arranged too. The hotel offers a pretty outdoor terrace with Castle view, an on-site spa with massage, a library lounge with free drinks till 10pm, a foot reflex corner and a compact onsen with a silk bath (all with Castle view) and hot stone benches. I had the whole onsen to myself in the evening, so it was very relaxing. The staff are kind and lovely too, making an effort to explain all the services and amenities in English. The buffet breakfast was also one of the better ones I've seen in my trips to Japan. If you're visiting the Castle, the entrance road is right outside the hotel. The main castle road is about 5-10 min away but you will pass by a famous Japanese confectionery, Taneya and Club Harie. Their souvenirs are one that even the Japanese cherish. I would wish to come here again with my partner one day. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

I recently stayed at AB Hotel Hikone and had an exceptional experience. The location deserves a solid 5 stars—it's conveniently situated at 5-9 Daitocho, Hikone, Shiga, offering easy access to key attractions. The cleanliness of the hotel is commendable, earning another 5-star rating. The staff was friendly and accommodating, though a slightly higher rating for friendliness would enhance the overall experience. The value for money is excellent, with top-notch facilities that deserve a full 5 stars. The breakfast exceeded expectations, earning a perfect score. Overall, AB Hotel Hikone provides a fantastic stay with its prime location, cleanliness, value for money, and outstanding facilities. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers seeking a delightful and comfortable accommodation experience in Hikone, Japan.

We stayed two nights in the hotel with breakfast and dinner. The web page of Trip.com showed that there was onsen in the hotel but when we check in, we were told that it was a ”mistake”. There is no onsen and the photo is a public onsen half an hours away. It was very disappoining that the Trip.com include photos irrelevant to the hotel. Dinner was also diffferent from the web photo. We have to pay 2500 yen each to upgrade the dinner to shsbu shabu. Breakfast is Japanese style with limited choice. Other than these, we had lake view room and shopping mall is nearby which are the advantages.

長期利用したが、コスパがとても良かった。 周辺：彦根駅前でアクセスが良いにも関わらず、繁華街の駅口の反対口である東口で車通りも少ないので静かで快適。最寄りのコンビニが駅反対口の為、若干距離を感じる方もいるかも…下の階に居酒屋とイタリアン、ホテル出てすぐ近くに中華と和洋中レストランがある。駅反対口まで行けばアルプラザや飲み屋さん定食屋さんが多数。ホテルのある東口側では、ホテルから徒歩10分くらいでドラッグストア、イオンタウンやローソン、コメダ、スシロー、ブロンコビリー、ラーメン屋さんなどがある。 部屋：13m²で140cmのベッドがメインをとっている。白を基調とした壁紙、大きい窓があり、圧迫感を感じない。虫が多数入ってくる為に窓は締め切りとなっている。加湿空気清浄機が各部屋に置いてあり、水を入れて自動モードにして置くと乾燥しなくて良い。エアコン、テレビ、冷蔵庫、机、椅子あり。コンセントが机に2つ、ベッド横に２つ。机はパソコンを置いて作業するのに十分な大きさで、照明も明るくできて作業しやすい。 ベッドはブックライトがあり、マットレスも宣伝しているだけあって寝心地良い。枕はフロントでもう1個借りられる。 シャワーは水を出す際に、洗面台と切り替えするタイプ。暖水と冷水の2つ蛇口を自分で調整しなければいけない。 朝食：6:30から平日は9時まで、土日は9:30まで2階のラウンジで食べられる。主食はクロワッサン、ワッフル、ミルクパンなど数種類のパンとトースターの他、2種類のコーンフレーク系、ピラフなどの日替わり味付きご飯がある。メインに日代わりのおかずと味付きゆで*、スクランブルエッグ、ソーセージがある。日替わりのおかずはチキン＆アボカドやジンジャーチキンなどで、日によっては2種類おいている時もあった。飲み物は日替わりのスープとご当地みそ汁、スムージーの他にコーヒー、オレンジジュースなど。テイクアウトボックスもあり、部屋で食べることもできる。 滞在最後にラウンジスペースをリフォームしており、朝食以外でも仕事やゆっくり過ごせる場所になりそうな配置で机や椅子を置いていた。機会があればまたこのホテルを使わしてもらうと思う。

Good place if traveling by car . Comfortable room , good bed and slept well . Has public bath at Ground floor , small but good enough for relaxation. Value for money, providing breakfast with nice food . Would stay again. Only thing is no restaurant around the hotel.

The hostel is in a vallage and it is expected to be for local family or local visitor. The staffs are helpful and try very hard to communicate in English. The facility is fair that water pressure is not enough when 4 people use the public bath at the same time, it also takes a quite of time to produce warm water for showering. Besides, it’s better to have plastic glasses in every room to use.

This hotel is just next to Maibara. It is very convenient to go other parts of Lake Biwa. Its bed and pillows are comfortable. Just like other japan hotels, small challenges to open two 24” luggages. Breakfast is simple and nice. There are several types of rice balls to choose (love the fried chicken, egg, fried meat), miso soup, corn soup, healthy fruit juice, bread and coffee.

滋賀県の東横インは米原から大津まで約50㎞間に4館ある。複数ある県はコロナ対策や各館で必要なリニューアルなどでも大変らしい。設備などに変化は無かろうが、皆デュベスタイルとか言うベッドメイキングになったのだろうか。 彦根館は14階建てで敷地内に一泊500円の駐車場があるが、彦根駅近辺の駐車場の多くは450円以下、それでもいろんな県外ナンバーで満車となっている。 たまたま上層階の部屋で見晴らしのよい部屋をあてがわれた。ところが眼下の鉄道の騒音が凄かった。２両で走る私鉄はたいしたことはないが、大動脈のJRは響きわたった。ポイントや継ぎ目に問題があるかのようで、特に停まらない特別快速や一晩中上り下りと頻繁に走る貨物列車の騒音には驚いた。 朝食の折りに一階に降りたときは通過列車には気にならなかったので、琵琶湖側上層階の特徴かもしれない。 会員カ―ドを忘れたのである。フロントで次のお客に順番を譲って探していると対応が聞こえた。そのお客は150ポイントを超えているとのことであった。もっと凄い人もおられるらしい。でも何故そこまで貯めるのだろうか。 今や会員カ―ドはエレベーターや部屋のキ―でもある。アプリにポイントを登録して、別に臨時のカ―ドを受け取った。

I stayed at Hotel Sunroute while in Hikone based off the location, price, and parking. The hotel had free parking a block or two away. Check in and out was simple and the staff was pleasant. I felt the rooms were ideal for what we needed. Nothing fancy but clean, spacious, and had everything we could ask for. This hotel was within walking distance from the station and castle. I would stay here again.

Very happy with my experience. I stayed one night in late November 2022 while riding the Biwaichi route. Staff was courteous, efficient, and bilingual. Facility was clean and well organized and - importantly - had indoor bicycle storage. For the equivalent of 28 USD (3700 JPY) I got one of the dorm beds similar to a capsule hotel plus a Thai bento of Gapao rice which was delicious. They also have a nice big public bath as well as individual showers, coin laundry, and some snacks for purchase at the front desk. If you're looking for an overnight rest stop while riding, i recommend this place.
