We'd been really looking forward to our stay, which was a treat from my husband for my birthday. Both of us had visited before but not since it was re-styled and we had picked Linthwaite so that we could try another Michelin-starred restaurant at the Henrock restaurant there. Sadly, although the hotel itself is lovely, and some of the staff were excellent, several things really let it down. On arrival we noticed a small sign stating 'reception' pointing to the left that was attached to the right-hand door of a set of double doors, so we assumed we needed to go through the left hand door. As we opened it, rather than a hello, or can I help, someone just barked at us that 'reception's that way'. Check-in was then slightly odd as we were told we'd be shown around the hotel, which would've been a nice touch had one of the two staff attending to us thought to offer to take our bags to our room or to keep them at reception whilst we were shown round. Instead, we had to keep hold of them which then meant the staff member showing us round kept saying 'you've got your bags with you so I won't show you this, can't show you that' etc, rendering the 'tour' pointless. Once we had settled into our room we went for a drink at the bar. No-one was behind the bar when we walked in so we were just stood at the bar looking at what was on offer and discussing what we might order. After around 1 minute, the barman walk led in and again, no hello, welcome, or what can I get you etc, just 'sit down please' . We were puzzled and my husband said 'could we have a drink' and the barman repeated again 'sit down please'. When we said we'd like to sit at the bar, he seemed annoyed. No other customers were around. The food at the Henrock restaurant was really good - we had the tasting menu and the service broadly good too, but twice during the meal we had to wait long enough for something that we said to each other 'they must've forgotten...' We also had an incident later in the evening where we were trying to get out to the outdoor seating area. We had seen another couple struggle with the door earlier. After several attemots, eventually I opened the door but had to use such force I injured my hand as it caught between the handle and frame. My fingers are still swollen a day later and it's sore to grip anything. It really shouldn't be this difficult for guests to access the outside tables, especially as the door in question is a fire exit. Finally, we were told on arrival that our breakfast would be at 9am. In all honesty, I couldn't remember for sure if they had contacted me and asked us to choose a time in advance or if 9am was dictated to us, but in any case, since we made the hotel booking, a work commitment came up for my husband that meant 9am would be too late, so we asked at reception after dinner whether we could change it to 8am. Without even checking any records, we were told no as the hotel was fully booked. Not 'i'll see what i can do' or 'I'm sorry but...', jus

房間整體位置不錯，離温德米爾湖很近，不過門口那個大坡有點難爬，我們是坐599公交車來的，帶着箱子爬坡累死了。 服務很不錯，來了以後前台都很熱情，然後他們那邊的管家Mike很健談，給我們介紹了各種設施，跟娃聊的也很愉快，一去就覺得服務感受很好。 我們定的家庭房，房型很贊啊，有典型的英式窗户，有個小天窗，娃還有個自己的小房間，總之超級滿意。説到這兒得插一句，官網拍的家庭房也太難看了，一扇窗都沒拍出來，以至於我前面一直擔心這房間不透氣。 早餐依舊中規中矩，沒啥説的，小庭院不錯，來放空度假很贊。 如果以後還有機會會再次選擇住這裏，也會給朋友們推薦的。

英式鄉村別墅的感覺，整體很温馨，一家人出遊，以為會三個人擠一張床，但是回來發現服務人員又給搭了一個摺疊床。服務人員很nice,晚上七點後沒有服務人員有需要可以打電話，憑鑰匙自己進出旅館。餐廳温馨乾淨服務好，菜品也很豐富。有自己的獨立停車場，會推薦給朋友。

Ees Wyke was simply stunning. The view from our room overlooking the lake said it all really. What can I say? The setting was beautiful, the hotel was comfortable and the food was delicious. It was the perfect place to stay for a complete recharge of batteries, after a few difficult months. The quiet & the solitude were just what we needed in amongst the majesty of the lakes. Richard and his team went above and beyond to make sure that we were well fed & looked after. And we were even offered a glass of bubbles on my birthday. Being a 5 minute drive from Hawkshead and a hop, skip and a jump from Hill Top meant that we could get some long walks in, as well as visiting one of the famous houses in The Lakes. All in all I would highly recommend Ees Wyke Country House and I look forward to returning at some point in the future.

Was really looking forward to our stay at the Gilpin after reading impressive reviews, however we were extremely disappointed with our stay. We have stayed at excellent hotels across the world, and for the price you pay at the Gilpin, you expect a lot better. Firstly, this hotel isn’t worth the £600+ for one night in a Garden Suite. We were walking between reception and the ‘arrival hut’ a number of times trying to finally get into our room, to be welcomed with poor customer service upon checkin. We had a number of bags and weren’t asked for these to be carried for. The room itself was fine and the hot tub was nice, only to be greeted with stained bed sheets. The strangest part of our stay was when housekeeping unlocked our door (without knocking!) when we were trying to get to sleep, and a lady walked straight into our room. I asked what she was doing, as this was a bit alarming, and she walked straight back out. I understand some hotels close the curtains and remove cushions off the bed in the evening, but this is meant to be done in a polite manner. Breakfast was nice, although confusing to locate and the entire hotel and lake house could do with more signposts around the site, as it isn’t easy to find where you’re going. Upon checkout, they had the cheek to add on a £40 gratuity bill to our stay, without asking us. If you want more money, charge more. Couldn’t understand why we would be paying the gratuity fee as we didn’t use any room service, the hotel restaurants, and the hotel service itself was poor. Overall, the Gilpin really lacks attention to detail and staff at times seem unbothered and not proud of the hotel. Staff could do with more training to say this is a ‘5 star’ hotel. I have stayed at other hotels in the Lakes and had a much better experience for half the price. Don’t waste your money here.

很溫馨的家庭旅館，地理位置絕佳，到Bowness和遊船碼頭都是步行距離，雖然這次在Windermere衹住了一晚上，但還是超級enjoy，他們家的英式早餐贊的沒話說😋

We didn't receive check in instructions 3 days before as stated on our booking (via VRBO) so I had to contact the host. They responded quickly and said we would receive check in details on the day when the apartment was ready, which was a bit worrying! We received a text half an hour before check in. The apartment was nice but wasn't what we had booked (different aoartment!) and also had no parking despite specifically stating this on the booking. The host responded quickly and sent someone within a couple of hours to sort the beds into singles for the kids so that was fine. The beds were comfortable, the water was hot and the apartment was generally nice but unfortunately it was too noisy for me. The sweet shop downstairs plays loud radio all day and you can hear noise from other flats. Plus it's right on a road and one night we had some people loitering about outside screeching. Luckily I had earplugs! We were offered use of a parking space but there was often someone else in the space. There is a public car park across the road so it's not a big deal but the listing / booking should make this clear and not state that there is parking if there isn't. If booking via VRBO just check with the host what you are booking first!

We recently booked the Windermere Suites, in Windermere, for my wife's Birthday and also, our wedding Anniversary. We were looking for something extra special for our stay. Local, restaurants , shops, banks, pubs and transport links, within 5 minutes, walking distance. Local buses, do a great service locally. We booked, the Keswick Suite for our 3 nights, 29th, September,2024 to the 2, October 2024. We weren't disappointed, the establishment is exceptional, classy with a boutique style décor and lighting throughout. Vicky, the host gives a warm friendly reception on arrival. Vicky, comes across that she really knows what a client wants and expects, from there stay, she delivers to a very high standard in every department, Vicky, obviously has great pride in what she has achieved over the years, her experience really shows, she has very high standards which shows, nothing is a problem, she great knowledge of the local area and can help with suggestions and recommendations for places to see and visit. Vicky, has a small team of staff, which are the best in Windermere, we have stayed in many hotels in Windermere over the years and Vicky's, staff really do her a great credit in Customer Service Skills. Our Keswick Suite, was absolutely stunning, from the lighting, décor and facilities such as the mini bar, which was well stocked. The Teas and coffee making facilities are all in a separate room, also, so no noisy fridges running, ours was exceptionally quiet so didn't apply. There is a safe, also which we found to be very low down, for my old knees and eyesight to deal with while entering the codes 🥴. We had views overlooking the grounds at the back, with large Patio doors, which open inwards, onto a Juliet railing. The Suite, gives off a lovely classy aroma, when entering, Vicky, really knows, her style and uses top end quality, products everywhere throughout the Suite, we were well impressed with everything she showed us and took time to explain how everything works, The Spa bath, is large in size, with powerful jets, also with the mood lighting in the bathroom for that extra special occasion, nice romantic touch 😊There is also, a very large shower in the bathroom, if you choose to use it instead. Everything is of high quality, throughout, Mini bar is reasonably priced, the room service meals, were also good quality ingredients and reasonably priced. We were both really pleased with our stay. Breakfast, Room service quality and quantity, were again excellent. We finally found accommodation that can cook fried eggs, perfectly.😊 We can't wait to go back, Vicky's, experience and Customer Service, skills really shine through. We always say, if you don't know what day it is, or the time. You have enjoyed a relaxing stay. Well done Vicky, and all your staff, do you proud the best, in Windermere, we will definitely be back.
