I stayed for 3 nights at the Wasabi Hostel Nagoya.
I took the Nohi Bus from Takayama, which took about 2 hours and 30 minutes to reach its final destination, the Meitetsu Nagoya Bus Terminal. The fare was 3600 yen. Using Google Maps, it was about a 700-meter, 10-minute walk to the hostel. Actually, getting off at JR Station would have been closer, but I wanted to check the Meitetsu train schedules to Atsuta Jingu and Chubu Centrair International Airport, as well as the Meitetsu bus to Matsumoto. Being my first time in Nagoya, the different lines and companies were quite confusing and disorienting.
_The hostel is located near a transportation hub, surrounded by various shopping malls, restaurants, convenience stores, and supermarkets, making daily life very convenient. It's also relatively easy to get to attractions like Osu Kannon, Oasis 21, and Nagoya Castle by subway.
I stayed in a female-only dormitory on the fifth floor, which had about 30 beds. The beds were spacious, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. Each bed had a safe with Chinese instructions, as well as an outlet, a bedside lamp, and a small TV. Due to the overall space constraints of the hostel, the aisles between the beds were very cramped. There was a small luggage room. On the fifth floor, there were 3 shower rooms and 2 toilets, providing facial cleanser, shower gel, shampoo, and body lotion. There was a self-service coin-operated washing machine for 200 yen per wash and a dryer for 100 yen for 30 minutes. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bath towels, and slippers all had to be purchased separately. There was a common lounge area on the first floor where everyone's shoes had to be placed in shoe lockers. The first floor also had a refrigerator, microwave, and oven, and complimentary miso soup and tea were provided. The staff were gentle and friendly, providing thoughtful and enthusiastic service; despite me not knowing English or Japanese, they patiently explained everything to me.
What confused me was that having traveled to Japan multiple times and stayed in many hostels, guesthouses, or hotels, this was the only place where the shower water pressure was low. I don't know if it was only on the fifth floor during peak water usage hours at night, but for me, this was the biggest drawback.
Overall, if you're traveling solo in Nagoya and looking for an affordable and convenient place to stay, this hostel offers good value for money.

The hotel is near the train station. Basic accomodation but hotel allows the luggage to be placed when you check out on the same day. The staff were nice.

I happened to be there during the Japanese Culture Festival, and many chain hotels were fully booked 😩 A business hotel popped up on the website, so I happily booked it, marking the end of my trip with three nights!
To be honest… I was a bit stunned when I checked in and got to the room 🙄 The environment wasn't great, and there was only a shared bathroom (I was worried about having to use the restroom outside in the middle of the night).
I regretted it a little 🥺
But the next day… I got used to it. The location is very close to the subway station, and there are many restaurants nearby. Most importantly… on the last day, I could take the Meitetsu Express directly to the airport ✈️ That was a huge plus!
The owners (both Chinese) were very friendly, so communication wasn't a problem.
Convenience and affordability… If you just need a place to sleep at night, it's really a good choice. It really is a good option.

The hotel is located in a really nice place, close to the Nagoya station and bus terminal, and also close to several large shopping malls and areas full of bars and restaurants. Check-in was quite straightforward, with guests being given an access card for their locker and elevator. The hotel's agents have a very decent English for Japanese standards. The two elevators are separated, with one exclusive for male guests to reach their exclusive floors and another one for female guests and their exclusive floors. The access card also locks and unlocks their locker, which is tall but also a bit narrow, but wasn't too much of an issue to store by backpack, bag and shoes. Guests are given sleepwear, slippers and towels, and the shared bathrooms are fully furnished with amenities. Common areas include the lounge in the highest floor and the café in the ground floor, well-decorated and quite coherent with the hotel's famous minimalistic and futuristic design language. The sleeping room has its signature look and offered decent space, even though not the largest capsule of its kind. There is one power outlet, a rotating light switch that allows the user to choose the light intensity, and two small compartments to hold glasses, phones or whatever. The pillow and blanket weren't my favourites but it's up to each person to decide. Like all capsule hotels, ventilation might be a problem so a fan or an AC outlet would be nice to have, but it's not a problem exclusive to 9h. In the end, it wasn't the best bed I've slept but I enjoyed the overall experience. The crew was nice, the hotel was organized and clean, the location was near everything I could need, and the price was also nice. I recommend this location for those who don't want to spend much in lodging and plan to spend most of the day outside and just want a place to rest for the night.
I made a reservation just because it was cheap, including Vijiho, but it was a very comfortable space. Since it is an adult hotel, the bed was large and I could sleep comfortably. It was good to have breakfast and choose Western or Japanese food.
I stayed here while sightseeing.
It's what they call a love hotel, but I was very satisfied, to be honest.
You can go out, the check-out time is late, and they offer room service.
This hotel had a spacious room, which was great compared to a small business hotel room.
The toilet and bath are separate, and the bath is spacious, with a TV and a TV. Two bath towels were provided.
The bed was king-size, spacious, and very comfortable.
It's always pitch black, even in the morning, so you can sleep well. The front desk staff were also very friendly.
After using this hotel, I decided that this love hotel is worth it. The room was clean and I had a comfortable time. Thank you very much.
Free meals in the morning and evening are helpful. Staying by car is also safe with parking service tickets. Move by train
Comfortable near the station. Car movement can also be smoothly west and east by highway from bypass.
I want to use it next time.

Went there for the F1 race and it was perfect for the weekend. Just make sure you know how to get into Suzuka and you will have a good race weekend. The beds are your typical hard japanese style mattress and also you do have to turn in your key every single time when you leathe property and then pick it back up again whenever you come back. I do wish they just had disposable keys like most other hotels but I didn't have trouble turning in my key offended each day. I do like that I will also get a free drink each time when I come back at the end of the day

TThe Lost Forest Mum📍 Seiryutei 青柳亭 @ Aichi, Japan 🇯🇵
(Ryokan Stay – Autumn Season)
We stayed one night at Seiryutei (青柳亭) during the autumn season, and it was a cosy, traditional, and peaceful ryokan experience with warm, sincere hospitality.
We arrived late at around 5pm, and despite the time, the owner welcomed us warmly at the entrance. Her kindness and readiness to assist made check-in smooth and comforting after a full day of travelling.
🅿️ Parking & Entrance Note
Parking is located right at the front door, making arrival and unloading very convenient, especially when arriving in the evening.
Do note there is a raised stone step at the entrance, so guests with heavy luggage should take care when stepping inside.
🏠 Building Layout – No Lift
The ryokan is a double-storey traditional house with no lift, only staircases.
This traditional layout adds charm, but carrying large luggage requires a bit more effort.
🙏 Warm Welcome
The owner lady greeted us personally, friendly and welcoming despite our late arrival. Her hospitality created a very homely atmosphere.
🛏️ Traditional Japanese Tatami Room
We booked a traditional tatami room, simple, clean, and very local in feel.
The night was quiet and peaceful, and we enjoyed a very good sleep — one of the highlights of the stay.
♨️ Private Onsen (貸切風呂)
The ryokan has one private onsen, used in turns.
The bath area was clean, well maintained, and relaxing, perfect for warming up in the cool autumn weather.
🍽️ Breakfast – Seasonal & Well Prepared
We had breakfast only, served in the beautifully decorated dining hall.
The meal was:
• Well prepared
• Seasonal with fresh ingredients
• Balanced and comforting
• Served in a calm and warm atmosphere
A wonderful way to start the morning.
🍁 Autumn Atmosphere
With cool air, quiet surroundings, and a peaceful environment, the stay felt especially cosy and relaxing during the autumn season.

A peaceful and traditional ryokan —
Seiryutei (青柳亭) offers doorstep parking, warm owner hospitality, a quiet tatami room where we slept very well, a clean private onsen, and a beautifully prepared seasonal breakfast. Just take note of the raised entrance step and staircase-only layout. 🍁♨️🧳✨

JJanetThis hotel is a solid option for travelers looking for a clean, comfortable stay near Nagoya Station at a reasonable price. The room is small but well-equipped with essentials like slippers, pyjamas, a hairdryer, and a water boiler. While bottled water isn’t provided, it’s convenient to purchase from the nearby Seven Eleven or Aeon store.
One of the best aspects is the peaceful environment. Unlike some modern hotels with thin walls, this one has good soundproofing, and the sliding door adds extra noise isolation. The air conditioning is individually controlled, making it easy to adjust the temperature precisely.
The hotel itself looks quite new and is kept very clean. I had a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and professional, with one gentleman at the front desk standing out for his attentive service and clear explanations of the facilities.
Location-wise, it’s about an 8-minute walk from Nagoya Station, though there is no covered walkway. The neighborhood feels safe, and there are plenty of dining options at the station. Some guests mentioned concerns about the curtain, but I found it adequate for blocking sunlight.
Would recommend for short stays in Nagoya!
MM48962****The room was very clean, the sheets, pillowcases and shower curtains were changed every day, but the room was small, the bathroom was smaller, it was suitable for thin people to live, the transportation was convenient, the hotel was at the entrance of the subway, Dongbeiyuan Station
TTourmengood hostel, in one of the buildings there is such a wonderful area where you can cook your own food, there is everything you need, just buy the necessary products. thanks for the hospitality! if I come again, I will definitely stay with you!

ΠπtrickThe room is very cost-effective, with complete facilities, good front desk service, and helped me find the forgotten headphones. The only drawback is that it is too close to the railway tracks and there is the sound of trains.
GGuest UserAbout a five minute walk from the Chiryu train station, which is especially convenient when you want or need to go to Nagoya Chubu airport.
Clean, room is standard Japanese business hotel size, and there’s a side entrance that’s used at night. For female solo travelers especially, please be alert that the hotel is off a main street that’s a bit dark. In Japan it’s mostly safe, but by the Chiryu station, there’s quite a lot of women’s bars and adult-only type entertainment venues-fyi.
