We stayed for one night. For a very expensive hotel it was very poor value. Bed was hard as where the rock hard pillows. Blind on window fell down crash as I was unfurling it. Bed sheet was torn. When you opened the drawer of the table it nearly toppled over. No bin in bathroom and no sign of hairdryer. We ordered breakfast for two of us in restaurant and both came on one plate. When my partner complained one poached egg on a plate came back much later!!! Coffee was good although they charged for seconds ( which we didn’t mind). Overall a rather tacky “Fawlty Towers” experience for top money charged!!! Also very steep stairs to rooms and no lift!!!

I booked the Woodenbridge because of its location and the availability of evening meals. The photos of the rooms also looked nice but don't be fooled. It reminded me of being in a hostel in my long distant youth - busy, unpleasant breakfast buffet, nowhere quiet to sit other than an unwelcoming area with a few sofas to the side of the reception (old tv, piano locked shut). It was also dirty, there seemed to be a permanent film of dirt in the air, on the windows etc. The bathroom had mould and my shower also had a large brown stain so that I was reluctant to use it. Even my balcony needed a long overdue clean. The flower borders were overgrown. All down at heel. The breakfast was so disappointing with unappetising food poorly presented and terrible coffee that we didn't have evening meals there after all. It was also too unpleasant to battle with a very noisy bar and dining room, and large visiting groups, even at breakfast. The staircase is steep and there is no help with luggage. The car park is always full and there isn't an obvious drop off point to unload. All very awkward. I was also concerned that fire doors didn't close properly and fire safety didn't seem up to standard. The staff were very helpful but seem badly let down by the hotel. I gather there has been a recent change of owner and I hope they get to grips with a long overdue deep clean and refurbishment. The 'dining' experience also needs an urgent rethink. Overall, it is unclear who this hotel is trying to appeal to, but it didn't appeal to me. I would not stay again.

Looked around for a bit of value for a Saturday overnight within an Hour and a half from Dublin. Murphys came up as one of the best for value. Arrived around 3pm, check in was quick and easy, only one staff member on duty between the bar and check in but she managed fine. Rooms where clean bed was comfy and the water in the shower was hot. Had a couple of drinks in the bar before dinner, Prices where cheaper than most locals in Dublin so no complaints there. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, and the service was excellent. Quiet little village and perfect for a value for money relaxing short break.
