Hotel 5-Bintang di Mimaropa, Filipina

The facility itself is nice but for the my version of a 5 star rating the resort would need to meet the standard of Peninsula Tokyo or the Park Hyatt in Kyoto. Unfortunately the facility doesn’t not meet that standard. What will make up for the lack of the amenities, cleanliness and attention to detail is the service provider. From the front desk to the waiter and waitress, to the cleaning Male/ladies, the service staff will go above and beyond to meet your needs. Last draw back is the sand flies (nik nik as the locals refer to them) are pesky little suckers….literally which makes one hesitant to enjoy the beautiful beach on the resort…which then leads to you missing the beautiful sunrise and sunset that one would expect in paradise. Over all, yes i would gladly return to this facility. It is probably the best on the island but I cannot on good conscience say the this is a 5star resort.

This is supposedly the only 5 star resort in the area which is sad as I think competition might actually inspire them to do better. The place itself is very nice and initial impressions are quite excellent. But the longer we stayed the more we noticed the lack of upkeep in the rooms. The size of the bathroom is big but there is not a single electrical outlet inside so you cannot plug in anything not even the hairdryer. The shower glass door does not close shut and with the very strong water pressure you can be assured of a very wet overflowing floor outside of the shower enclosure. We paid for 2 extra persons in the room which they informed us meant sharing the beds and breakfast inclusive but they don’t automatically provide the extra towels. Even after calling them to request for more towels they still took more than 2 days to give us our extra towels. The water in the pool is quite warm and not refreshing as the heat of the sun kept it quite warm but some of our friends actually liked it that way so it’s more of a personal preference. The drying rack in the balcony is a nice touch as we can dry our swim clothes there. There are also water dispensers in the hallway which is great for refilling the complimentary glass bottles of water provided. Buffet breakfast is included in the room rates but don’t expect anything extraordinary. The Italian restaurant in the resort does not seem to be ready for the tourist influx as food came out ever so slowly and we felt bad for the foreign tourists who don’t complain as much as the locals so we did get our food faster than they did. The resort is expanding so there is construction ongoing which is a positive sign of tourist revival in PP which I’m happy about for them but I wish they would also pay closer attention to the upkeep of the existing rooms.

For us, we like a little bit of seclusion every once in a while when traveling. Despite the 1 hour airport transfer and trip to Coron Proper, Busuanga Bay Lodge was amazing! The staff was welcoming and friendly from the time we got here to our last day, which is today. We were given an upgrade, from the King Waterfront to a suite 2 floors below the lobby area, due to the low count of guests staying here at the time😁. The menu is only 2 pages but the chef is really amazing! Joaquin, Joel, and the rest of the staff gave top notch service. Some people that might stay here may not like the road connecting the resort to the main road but oh well, it adds a little adventure to your stay! Valentine's day night was romantic with 2 of the staff providing musical entertainment. We just missed the annual boat race that happens right in front of the hotel from the February 18 thru the weekend. We definitely recommend this place!

This is a stunning island with one of the most beautiful beaches and water anywhere in the world - personally I think better than the Maldives, Seychelles, Mozambique. The staff and the service is faultless throughout so your experience on the island is exclusive and private. We were particularly well served by Jesie, our butler, who was charming and discreet and helpful although we were pretty self contained guests. Ian at the Lagoon Club made our stay particularly enjoyable. He was incredibly attentive and professional - a genuine enthusiast for his job and for the Aman brand. The villas are very well appointed and well designed but not as spectacular as some of the other Aman properties we have been to or private island villas in North Island or Miavana for example. We moved from Villa 6 which was unrenovated and felt very tired (noisy air conditioning etc) to a refurbished villa which was much better and closer to what would expect for the price point. The move was handled swiftly and efficiently. Villas are spacious with large pools and very private. Some of the outdoor furniture has seen slightly better days and the equipment in the very well appointed and spacious gym is not the most up to date but, - again, this is in comparison with other Aman’s - Management curiously absent. We met no one from senior management in 12 days but we didn’t really need to I guess and wasn’t a major issue. Overall we will definitely return. My husband and I celebrated our second year anniversary at Cauayan. We considered other resorts but we have definitely made the right choice. The island is just breathtaking! We were greeted with a warm welcome by the hotel staff and were escorted to our beautiful villa. My husband arranged a private tour of El Nido islands, where we ended up visiting about 7 spots with our guide even acting as our photographer (he took fantastic photos and videos too). In terms of food, the buffet breakfast offered a wide array of food selection. For lunch / dinner, we enjoyed all that we ordered (though some are really very spicy, so take note). The bar staff can concoct amazing drinks as per your mood & whim. I particularly enjoyed the spa and wished I booked a much longer massage. Our stay at the island became so much more meaningful when we witnessed hawksbill sea turtles being released to the ocean….As amazing as all these are, the best part of our stay in Cauayan is the friendly and customer focused staff. They prioritize the customers’ needs, always have a smile on their faces and have just made our stay in El Nido a memorable one. Thank you Cauayan and we will surely return for another amazing experience at your island!

This birthday dinner went above and beyond from the car service, the music, and Mark!! If I ever visit El Nido again I will definitely be back! When we first arrived at the beach house at Ocam Ocam our reaction was that of pure awe. We were greeted with cold face towels freshly baked cookies but most importantly, smiles. The beach house is a beautiful space with impeccably considered decor in a stunning location. It was only in the first full day of our stay that we started to realise that this vacation resort was a lot more than its looks. The owners, Jess and Constantin (who we had the honour to meet during our stay) are natural hoteliers. They know the importance of the nuances and the details. The food is impeccable, I recommend the vegetarian eggs Benedict, the fish in crab fat sauce and of course, the freshly baked cookies with a generous scoop of divine home made ice cream. The cocktail list is confidently curated and the wine most certainly hit the right spot Reflecting on our stay at the beach house the stand out quality and the thing that has most impact is that the place has heart. The staff consists of local residents recruited because of their experience and their natural skill, they are attentive but not overly fussy. One of the staff members even gave us a cave tour on black island on his day off! Even the local island dogs are cared for and fed by the beach house staff- an extension of the kindness and hospitable nature of the team. We shall never forget our wonderful vacation in the Philippines but most of all we cherish the memory of our time at The Beach House, Ocam Ocam Thank you so much Jess (our mosquito fairy). It was a privilege to meet you and stay at your house. What you have created is very special Eaton, Michael, Ken & Sue

Premises …are quite new with two very nice and large pools facing the ocean plus a hot-tub for which you have to book. The resort looks as good as the photos so we were not disappointed. During our five nights we saw only very few people around the resort and the restaurant even though they were fully booked. They even have a game room with a pool table, PS4 and karaoke system. Food …is good with traditional Filipino dishes, especially the pork sinigang was very good (too fatty meat though). Would be nice with a few non-fast food Western options. Staff …were extremely service minded and made us feel very welcome. All spoke English fluently in addition to Tagalog. Wheat could have been better …not leaving a family with two small kids in 32 degrees at the port for 30 min even though we had made a clear agreement to be picked up …wifi in room 601 was horrible and I had to take a business meeting close to the restaurant …none of the pools had any shade whatsoever Overall we were very happy with our stay and will definitely come back (hopefully to better wifi 😀).
