🌟 5-Star Review for Hostel Casa Colón, San José I had a fantastic stay at Hostel Casa Colón — it exceeded my expectations in every way. The location is incredibly convenient, especially if you’re heading to or from the airport or bus terminals. The staff were welcoming and helpful, offering great local tips. My room was clean, secure, and surprisingly quiet despite being in the city. The common areas are stylish and spacious, with a cozy on-site restaurant that serves excellent breakfast and coffee. It truly felt more like a boutique guesthouse than a typical hostel. Highly recommend for solo travelers, couples, or anyone looking for comfort and value in San José.

Book only one night needed to be closed to the airport prior to leaving Costa Rica. I arrived too early to check in so I left my backpack in the storage and went sightseeing. Rooms were cleaned however my issues was with the cleanliness of the bathrooms I wish they were cleaner . Shower’s didn’t have any hooks or shelves and I didn’t have anywhere to but my stuff other then the floor. I found a very cockroach in the shower which was also gross. Bathrooms could definitely be cleaner and furniture could be less broken done. Definitely more on the budget friendly side.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There is a Mexican restaurant and supermarket nearby. The room is clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.

One of the cleanest places I have ever stayed at! The host literally responds within seconds and is extremely helpful. The hostel is not very big, so it is very quiet, which was very important for us. We cooked every day throughout our trip and we were the only ones cooking as well. We had a private room with private bathroom, but the bathroom wasn’t attached to the room, was in front of the room, which wasn’t a problem for us either.

Nice hotel in San-Jose. Old colonial style house very well decorated. Close to city center (in 10-15mins). Next door to the hotel is very good restaurant Pataconeria. Breakfast in the patio starting at 6:30, there is a choose of dishes.  Close to the hotel is railway which wake you up early :)

Hotel San José is a cheap option, but the location is inconvenient and feels unsafe. The property is basic with minimal amenities and security. It suits travelers who prioritize low cost over comfort or safety. Overall, the experience is average and disappointing for those expecting more.

When I booked at that time, I saw that the room was 20 square meters. When I went there, I felt that it was about 10 to 12 square meters.  I was disappointed. The double room we booked was small and the room was small. There is no chair. Usually I can sit on the bed. Fortunately, the layout is good. The surrounding environment is average. The traffic is basically walking (the attraction is not too far, from the National Museum 1.7 to 2 kilometers). The service staff has a good attitude. Although I don't know English, I am also very active in answering our questions with a translator.

Jorge was very helpful Location not too bad but as with uber most places are within reach. Shower and sink tap a bit to be desired  Will I stay again well maybe I will.

Excellent service over WhatsApp, I contacted them with some questions and they answered fast and easy :) Great location for airport transfer in the morning
